Voice to Text

Some people think best out loud. Voice to Text lets you talk an idea, a post, an email or a plan into a note, as long as you want, and then hand it to evyAI to turn it into something finished.

It lives at evyus.com/tools/voice-to-text, it is free and needs no login. Your notes and audio are saved in your browser, not on a server. One honest note on privacy: live dictation uses your browser’s built-in speech engine, and Chrome, Edge and Safari send that audio to their own speech service to get the words back. Transcribing an audio file, Tidy up, and everything else run on your own computer.

1. Tap the mic and talk

Tap the mic (or press Space when you are not typing) and start talking. Your words show up as you speak, right where your cursor is in the note. Pick from 18 languages under Language. With Say the punctuation on, saying “comma”, “period” or “new paragraph” types it for you.

Heard a word wrong? Tap the mic to pause, fix it, and tap again to keep going (typing in the note pauses it for you). Press Stop when you are done.

2. Keep the audio

With Keep the audio on, every Stop adds a clip to the note, each with its own player. MP3 and Original download that clip, and a third button transcribes it again on your computer for a cleaner second pass, replacing the note or adding to the end.

3. Or bring in a file

Drop a voice memo, an MP3, an M4A, a WAV or even a video onto the page and a speech model that runs on your computer writes it up. Choose Fast or Better; the model downloads once (about 50 MB for Fast, about 100 MB for Better) and is then cached by your browser. Text files (.txt, .md, .srt, .vtt) open as a note.

4. Tidy it up

Tidy up removes the ums, uhs, repeated words and false starts, fixes spacing and capitalizes sentences, all on your computer. Undo brings the original back.

5. Transform it with evyAI

Under Transform it with evyAI there are 12 one-click buttons: Clean it up (keeps your words), Organize it, Summarize, Action items, LinkedIn post, Email, Article, More ideas, Make a plan, Tell it as a story, Video script and Push back (what is unclear, missing or wrong). There is also a box to give your own instruction with Ask evyAI. Each button opens the evyAI Agent with your note and the instruction filled in; using evyAI needs an evyAI account. For long notes the full prompt is copied to your clipboard and evyAI opens empty, so you just paste.

What comes out

• A note you can Copy, download as .txt or .md, or send with Email it to me.
• The audio of every clip, as MP3 or the original recording.
• Your notes list, with search, saved in this browser. Press New note to start another.

Where it fits

Voice to Text is a fast way into the content loop on the evyAI Tools overview: talk the idea out, let evyAI shape it into a post, then polish the opening in Hook Lab and the formatting in the Post Editor. The Video script transform writes a script you can read from the teleprompter in the Screen Recorder. If your idea is a story, Story Finder helps you shape it.

Limits

• Live dictation works in Chrome, Edge and Safari. Firefox has no live dictation, so there the mic records and the text is written up when you stop.
• Transcribing files and re-transcribing clips on your computer are English only.
• Notes and audio live in this browser on this computer. Clearing site data removes them, so download anything you want to keep.
