Screen Recorder
A short video beats a long email: a walkthrough for a client, a personal hello to a prospect, a how-to for your team, a clip for social. Screen Recorder is a free Loom alternative that does all of that in your browser.
It lives at evyus.com/tools/screen-recorder, it is free and needs no login. Recording, editing and captions run in your browser: the video is made and kept on your own computer. Nothing is uploaded unless you press Create share link.
Who it’s for
Section titled “Who it’s for”- Anyone who sends prospects or clients a personal video instead of another wall of text.
- Anyone who explains things to a team and is tired of repeating the same walkthrough.
- Anyone who records talking-head clips for LinkedIn and wants a teleprompter and captions without paying for another app.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”flowchart LR A[Pick a mode] --> B[Record] B --> C[Trim, cut,<br/>annotate] C --> D[Captions] D --> E[Save MP4<br/>or vertical clip] D --> F[Share link] D --> G[evyAI: post,<br/>email, summary]1. Pick what to record
Section titled “1. Pick what to record”- Screen + camera: your screen with your face in a bubble. The Loom classic.
- Screen only: just the screen, with your voice.
- Camera only: a talking head, wide, square or vertical, with a Teleprompter. Press Write my script with evyAI, give it the topic, and the evyAI Agent writes a 60 to 90 second script in your voice to paste in.
In the settings you choose the microphone, the camera, Computer or tab sound, the bubble shape and size, the frame, the quality and the countdown. Under Camera background you can blur what is behind you or swap it for evyAI purple, a dark backdrop or your own image; the model for this is about 3 MB, loads once, and then runs on your computer.
2. Press Record
Section titled “2. Press Record”Your browser asks which screen, window or tab to share, then a short countdown starts. While you record you can Pause, Stop and review, Start over (throw the take away and count back in on the same screen and camera) or Trash it. Turn on the cursor Spotlight (a purple ring that follows your mouse with a ripple on every click) and the Pen to draw on the recording. Shortcuts: R record, P pause, S stop.
3. Trim, cut and annotate
Section titled “3. Trim, cut and annotate”Drag the purple handles to trim the start and end, and use Cut from here to remove as many sections from the middle as you like. Annotate adds a pen mark, spotlight, arrow, box or text at any moment, for as long as you choose. Pause anywhere to save that frame as a JPEG or PNG, or pick a range and make an animated GIF or a short MP4 clip.
4. Add captions
Section titled “4. Add captions”Press Add captions and a speech model that runs on your computer writes the transcript (English). Choose Fast or Better. The first run downloads the model (about 50 to 70 MB for Fast), then it is cached. You can Edit text, show the captions on the video, Copy transcript, or download it as text or subtitle files.
5. Save or share
Section titled “5. Save or share”- Save: pick MP4 or WebM, keep the shape As recorded or make a Vertical 9:16 or Square 4:5 clip with a blurred, evyAI purple or black background, and burn the captions in if you want. Then Download, Save as, or Save to folder.
- Share a link: Create share link uploads the finished video, with your edits and captions, and gives you a link that opens a player, the transcript and a download. You can copy, open, update or delete the link later.
6. Do more with evyAI
Section titled “6. Do more with evyAI”Once the video has captions, one click turns what you said into a LinkedIn post, a follow-up email with the video link, a summary with action items for the viewer, a title with chapters, an X thread, an article, more formats, or a tighter script to record it again. Each button opens the evyAI Agent with your transcript and the instruction filled in.
What comes out
Section titled “What comes out”- An MP4 (or WebM) of your recording, trimmed and cut, with or without burned-in captions, in wide, vertical or square shape.
- Stills, GIFs and short clips of any moment.
- A transcript as text or subtitle files.
- A share link, when you want one.
- Your Library: every recording stays in this browser with a thumbnail, so you can come back and edit it.
Where it fits
Section titled “Where it fits”Screen Recorder is how you show up in person when you cannot be there: a personal video for someone on your Warm List, a follow-up after a call, or a clip for your Content Calendar. Its teleprompter pairs well with Voice to Text, which can turn a spoken idea into a video script, and Video Studio can trim, resize or clean any video file you already have.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- Use Chrome or Edge on a desktop computer. Safari and phones do not let web pages record the screen.
- The spotlight and pen only follow your mouse while it is over the recorder’s own page. To mark up anything else, use Annotate after you stop.
- Captions are English only.
- Recordings live in this browser on this computer. Clearing site data removes them, so download anything you want to keep.
- Share links have a size limit of 600 MB and expire 90 days after the last view. Anyone with the link can watch the video.
- Something not working? Use Report a problem on the page.
