Lead Scoring
and BANT
In one sentenceGiving each lead points for fit and interest, so your team knows who to contact first. BANT (Budget, Authority, Need, Timeline) is the classic qualifying checklist.
What it means
Fit points come from who they are (title, industry, company size match your ICP). Interest points come from what they do (opened emails, visited pricing, attended a webinar). Cross a threshold and the lead becomes an MQL.
BANT asks: do they have Budget, are they the decision Authority (or close to it), is there a real Need, and is there a Timeline to act?
How to use it
- Start simple: 3 fit criteria and 3 interest signals, each worth points. Adjust after you see what actually closes.
- Subtract points for bad signals: student emails, competitors, job seekers.
How AI helps
AI can score leads from messy information (a LinkedIn profile, a website, a form answer) the way a person would, and explain why.
