The Cloud
Cloud computing
In one sentenceComputing power, storage and software you use over the internet, run in someone else's data centers, instead of on your own machines.
What it means
"In the cloud" means it lives on remote servers: your Google Drive files, your SaaS apps, your website. The big providers are Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud; smaller ones like DigitalOcean offer simple servers.
How to use it
- Turn on two-factor login for every cloud account, and set billing alerts so a mistake cannot run up a huge bill.
How AI helps
Most AI runs in the cloud; your prompt is processed in a provider's data center. That is why AI Data Privacy settings matter.
