The problem
One assistant that does everything is a blur. A dozen colleagues with names, roles, and standing responsibilities is a company, and a company needs an office.
What Claude Code did
Claude built the office as an architecture statement: the entire company is a folder of markdown files. Each employee is a persona file with their role and voice, each has their own memory, and the web chat routes conversations to the right colleague. Two guardrails are deliberate: shell access is disabled for everyone, and a zone split keeps each employee inside their own filing area.
The result
Walk in the door, pick a colleague, and work. The company is legible: anyone can read the folder and know exactly who works here, what they do, and what they remember.
