SSH Key
In one sentenceA matched pair of files that proves who you are to a server: a public key you hand out and a private key you never share.
What it means
The public key goes on the server, like a lock. The private key stays on your computer, like the only key that opens it. It is much safer than a password and cannot be guessed.
How to use it
- Never paste your private key into a chat, email or document. Only the public key (the file ending in .pub) is safe to share.
- Give each AI agent or tool its own key pair. If something goes wrong, delete that one public key from the server and the access is gone.
- Do not reuse your personal key for agents; it may open every server you own.
