AGI
Artificial General Intelligence
In one sentenceA hypothetical AI that can do any intellectual task a person can, across every field. Experts disagree on when, or whether, it will arrive.
What it means
Today's AI is very capable but uneven: superhuman at some tasks, surprisingly weak at others. AGI describes a future system that matches people across the board, learning new things as flexibly as we do.
There is no agreed definition or test, which is why you will hear very different predictions.
How to use it
- Do not wait for AGI to get value. The AI available today can already save you hours every week.
- Be skeptical of products that claim AGI. It is a goal, not a feature.
